Narrabri will be holding their 10th annual food and wine festival, Nosh on the Namoi, on March 31st, 2012. Held on the banks of the Namoi River, the festival has enjoyed enormous success since its inception in 2003, with 2012 promising to be even bigger than ever. Showcasing a wide variety of local produce Nosh is the perfect opportunity to savour the fruits of this rich agricultural region.
Nosh on the Namoi promises entertainment for the whole family.
Visitors are invited to explore the wares over 40 local exhibitors offering tasty gourmet samples, which include olives, pasta, wines, bread and pork. Products will be available for purchase on the day. There will be a live jazz band providing background music as you wander throughout the picturesque grounds of the Crossing Theatre. There will be cooking demonstrations and many more activities throughout the day.
This years celebrity chef is Mark Olive aka "The Black Olive" he has been a chef for 25 years and has becom a well known Australian celebrity with his charismatic style and creative approch to food, starring in his own television series "The Outback Cafe" and host of cooking, lifestyle and travel shows nationally and globally. Marks passion for fusing native food and culture with contemporary lifestyle cooking has led to a huge international profile, and the creation of Black Olive Catering an indigenous catering company in North Melbourne, Victoria.
Be sure to catch the annual “Courier Cook Off”. A real crowd puller this heated competition pits local BBQ aficionado’s against each other in a race to create the best meal. Using a mixture of local Nosh exhibited products the competition is as mouth watering as it is exciting!
Children will be entertained in the Children’s Activity Marquee with Face Painting, Balloons and Story Time. There will also be a Baby Change area and Mother’s Rest area.
This year Nosh is excited to be hosting the Year of the Farmer Travelling Road Show! to educate and entertain and celebrate our Farmers.
In the evening festivities will continue with the Nosh Night Out, an exciting evening of culinary delights incorporating the best elements from the exhibitors and other Regional food producers. Visitors to the day function of Nosh on the Namoi will enjoy free admission, and are encouraged to stay on and enjoy a meal and live entertainment and firework show on the banks of the Narrabri Creek behind the Crossing Theatre, Narrabri.
